Gantt Chart

Gantt charts are useful for project planning and time management. They help us estimate the length of a project, determine the resources needed, and organize the order in which we will accomplish activities. It can also be used to manage task dependencies. Gantt charts are useful for tracking the progress of a project once it has begun. If a project falls behind schedule, we can quickly identify what has to be done by a certain date and take the required actions to bring it back on track.

The Gantt chart is divided into two parts: critical and non-critical paths.

  • Critical path: A critical path in a Gantt chart is when a single activity delays a related series of activities, hence delaying the project's overall completion date.

  • Non-critical path: Non-critical paths are tasks that do not rely on accomplishing other activities. This implies we can accomplish them before or after a specific step is done.

Using Gantt charts, we can effectively organize projects around deadlines and distribute resources. Gantt charts are tools that project managers use to keep track of their workload. They demonstrate, for example, how dependent tasks, milestones, and tasks with varying start and end dates interact with one another.
